Shabbona Middle School Education: 11 Black students were enrolled in 2022-23 school year

There were 11 Black students enrolled in Shabbona Middle School in the 2022-23 school year, 8.3% less than the previous year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

Data showed that the school welcomed 311 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 3.5% of the student body to be the second least represented ethnicity in the school.

The school is located in Morris School District 54 with a central office in Morris.

Among the two schools in Morris School District 54, White Oak Elementary recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 717 students.

Illinois registered one of the largest enrollment drops during the pandemic. Since 2020, the Prarie State lost nearly 118,000 students, further intensifying a decline trend established since 2013.
