Laura Jean Wooden, 100, of Morris, IL, Passes Away Peacefully

Laura Jean Wooden, aged 100, passed away peacefully at the Gardens at Park Pointe in Morris, IL. Born on September 6, 1924, in Morris Hospital to William and Laura Gonnam, she married Robert “Bob” H. Wooden in 1943. Laura, also known as Jean, was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked at the Grundy County ACS office and Verona Exchange Bank before farming with her husband. Jean later returned to the bank until her retirement in 1990. She was actively involved in the Order of Eastern Star and the Verona Methodist Church, devoting her time to church activities and community involvement.

Survived by her children Linda, Lois, Lucille, and Robert; grandchildren Richard, James, Laura, Leslie, Ryan, and Brooke; great grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Bob, parents, brothers, and sister. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a private family celebration of life will be held with burial service at Brookside Cemetery in Mazon, IL. Donations in her memory can be made to Brookside Cemetery and Lightways Hospice. The family appreciates the care provided by Park Pointe Gardens staff and Lightways Hospice. Cremation service entrusted to U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris.
