Morris city council approves ordinance making amendments to zoning

The city council of Morris approved an ordinance on October 21, making numerous text amendments related to zoning use, regulation, and classification of uses.

According to the City of Morris, these changes affect cargo containers, prohibited signs, off-street parking and loading, as well as manufacturing and logistics. The public hearings for the various Zoning Text Amendments were held on May 29, 2024, and September 25, 2024. Several amendments cover items such as cargo usage regulations, regulations regarding parking space usage, surfacing and parking landscaping, shared parking regulations, and parking zone boundaries.

Additional zoning amendments impact mineral extraction regulations. The ordinance passed with seven yeas and one abstention. Details and specifications of the changes can be found in Ordinance 4547.
