Sharon Jo Odom Remembered for Lifetime of Service to Grundy County

Morris, IL - Sharon J. Odom, a lifelong resident of Morris, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born on April 17, 1948, Sharon was the daughter of Mervin “Bud” and Margaret Guard.

After graduating from Morris High School, Sharon dedicated 35 years to serving Grundy County as a Probation Officer, followed by an additional decade as a Bailiff at the Grundy County Courthouse. She was a dedicated member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she actively participated in various church activities.

On July 26, 1976, Sharon married Glenn "Butch" Odom, and together they raised their children Wendy, Keith, Richard, Stacey, and Kelsey. Sharon’s love extended to her 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Stephen Guard.

Memorials in Sharon's honor may be made to Lightways Hospice in Joliet. A visitation for Sharon will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the UC Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris, followed by a celebration of her life officiated by Pastor Patrick Lohse. Sharon requested aqua cremation rites, and burial will occur at a later date at Saratoga Cemetery.
