Morris - Ronald (Ron) Norris Evenson, of Morris, IL, passed away on Friday, March 21, after battling prostate cancer. Known for his "can do" attitude, optimism, sense of humor, and love for family and friends, Ron was a beloved member of the community.

Born on March 26, 1945, in Eugene, OR, Ron grew up in Valley City, ND, where he learned the values of hard work, savings, conservation, and appreciation for nature. A former student-athlete at Valley City High School, he later attended NDSU in Fargo, ND, and married Jeannine Hagen in 1968. After working for DuPont Explosives, he founded Evenson Explosives in Morris, IL, and owned the company for 24 years before retiring in 2007.

A dedicated community member, Ron played a key role in local organizations and was instrumental in the establishment of the Morris Hospital Y. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and faith, survived by his wife Jeannine, son Eric Evenson, daughter Lesli Callahan, grandchildren, great family, and friends.

Memorial donations can be made to the Morris Hospital Y. A private service will be held at a later date. The family expresses gratitude to friends, family, and Dr. Vermillion for their support and care.
