Just Kidding Around celebrates three decades serving families in Morris

Just Kidding Around, a children’s specialty retail store in Morris, is marking its 30th anniversary with a three-day celebration from September 18 to 20. The boutique, located at 218 Liberty Street, has been owned and operated by the mother-daughter team of Maureen Headrick and Monica Brehm since its opening. The store offers children’s apparel ranging from preemie sizes up to size 16, as well as accessories and gifts.

“What keeps us going is our love for the business, our downtown and community, and our many wonderful customers and friends who have supported us through the years,” said Monica Brehm.

The anniversary event begins on Thursday, September 18 with Lucky Bubbles Pop Up Shop by Laki Hawaiian Ice featuring bath products for children between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. On Friday, September 19 at both 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., local artist Terri Clemmons will host free interactive storytime sessions that include a sign language mini lesson; reservations are required by calling the store.

The celebration concludes on Saturday, September 20 with Sourdough & Granola Pop Up Shop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Throughout all three days there will be more than two dozen raffle prizes provided by vendors, gift certificates, special discounts, and refreshments available to attendees.

Just Kidding Around carries several brands such as Mayoral, Isobella and Chloe, Little Me, Under Armour among others. The shop also offers baby gifts including personalized blankets and picture frames.

The boutique is affiliated with both the Morris Retail & Restaurant Association and the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

“Just Kidding Around is every mom, grandma, and aunt’s dream store. They have an outfit for every occasion for your child that will make them look their best, comfortably,” said Christina Van Yperen, President & CEO of the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce.

Store hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with additional Sunday hours during the holiday season from noon until four o’clock.

“We plan to continue to be a presence on Liberty Street and to support the downtown. We will always offer quality merchandise, provide knowledgeable and friendly customer service and give back to the community through our Kids Club program,” said Maureen Headrick.
